Parker Custom
Designed by Rusty Parker, as a practical step-up.
A wide nose template, square tail and 2+1 fin setup are not attributes you would normally associate with a step-up. However, when you need to make long paddles, stroke into shallow takeoffs and are not always surrounded by firing barrels, they are attributes you would like to have. The Parker Custom was designed with big NorCal days in mind, particularly around Steamers and other mushier waves. When the waves get much above 6-8 feet, and most surfers "step up" to a board that is similar to their shortboard, the narrow nose, and pin tail do not help you in mushy waves or long paddles. Rusty sought something that would not fall victim to this concept; a board that would allow him to get in early, surf big open faces how he wants, and then make the 1/4 mile paddle back to the top of the point comfortably. Thus, the Parker Custom was born! no longer must you stomp your step-up over mushy sections and dive your nose on slow takeoffs!
Designed for waves 6 feet+ however it can be adjusted to more standard shortboard conditions. Like all models, it can be customized to rider request and will usually be adjusted with a certain wave in mind (the concaves in particular). Most riders will enjoy one in about 2 inches taller than they are, all the way up to over a foot taller, depending on wave choice.
